Build the quote from your price book

Foldrule ships with a catalog for handyman, plumbing, HVAC and electrical work, sixty to a hundred and twenty items a trade, priced as a starting point you edit. Type three letters and pick the line.

Anything you type by hand can be saved to your catalog on the spot, so the second time is faster than the first.

  • Search your catalog as you type
  • Free text lines in your own words
  • Quantity, unit and taxable on every line
  • Catalog edits never change a sent quote

Options the customer ticks, and a deposit

Mark a line optional and it becomes a checkbox on the customer page, with the total moving as they tick. What they select is what the job gets built from.

Set a deposit as a percent or a fixed amount. It is worked out on the approved total, so options they turned down do not inflate it.

  • Optional lines on or off by default
  • The total updates as the customer chooses
  • Deposit due on approval, printed on the document
  • Deposit lands as credit on the client

Send it, and see when it was opened

Email with the PDF attached, a text with the link, both at once, or copy the link and send it however you like. You see when it was viewed, and you hear the moment it is approved.

Quotes expire after thirty days unless you change that. An expired one can be extended and sent again.

  • Email, text, or just the link
  • A viewed time on the quote
  • A reminder before it expires
  • Documents in English or Spanish

Signed in the portal, then it becomes a job

The customer types their name and either draws a signature or types one. The approved version freezes with their choices, the signature page goes onto the PDF, and you get a notification with the total.

Revise a sent quote and Foldrule makes a new version. The old one stays exactly as the customer saw it.

  • Drawn or typed signature, their choice
  • Approve, decline, or ask for changes
  • Every version kept and viewable
  • One tap from approved quote to job
A sent quote as the customer sees it, with one optional line ticked and the approve bar at the bottom.

Questions about quotes

How a quote gets built, sent and approved.

Do you call them quotes or estimates?

Quotes, everywhere in the product. It is one priced proposal the customer approves, and the word stays the same on the document, in your list and in the app.

Is the signature good enough?

The approved quote records the typed name, the drawn signature when there is one, the time, the device and the link used, and all of it prints on the PDF. That is normal practice for home services work. For anything unusual, ask your own lawyer.

Can the customer change the quote?

They can ask. Request changes sends you their text and marks the quote, and you revise it into a new version. Nothing they do moves a number on their own.

What if they approve it over the phone?

Mark it approved yourself and pick the options on their behalf. The document records that it was approved verbally, with the date and who marked it.

Does the deposit have to be paid before I start?

No. The quote counts as approved either way, and you can create the job with the deposit still pending. The status is on both so you know where you stand.

What happens to a quote that expires?

It stops taking approvals and tells the customer to get in touch with you. You can extend it and send the same version again, or revise it into a new one with a fresh date.
