Terms of use for the Foldrule site
The site and the free tools cost nothing and come as they are. Nothing here is a contract, and nothing here is legal, tax or accounting advice.

What these terms cover
These terms cover this website and the six free tools on it. That is all there is today. Foldrule is not open, there is no account to create and there is no product to subscribe to, so nothing here describes one. By reading the site or using a tool, you are going along with what is written on this page. If you do not agree with it, the honest answer is to close the tab.
The site is free and comes as it is
You pay nothing to read the site or to use a tool, and we make no promises about either one. We do not guarantee the site will be up, that a page will be right, or that a tool suits the job in front of you. All of it is provided as it is. We built it carefully and we fix what we find, but a free page on the internet is not a warranty, and we are not liable for what you do with it.
The tools do arithmetic, you do the checking
Each tool multiplies and adds the numbers you type in. It does not know your business, your costs, your rates or your rules. Read the result before you act on it. If a number from a tool goes onto a quote, an invoice, or anything you file, checking it is your job and not ours. A mistyped rate gives a confident wrong answer in every calculator ever built, including these ones.
Nothing here is advice
Nothing on this site is legal, tax or accounting advice. The sales tax calculator deserves its own sentence: it applies the rate you type in. It does not look a rate up, it does not know your state, your province or your service address, and it has no idea whether the work you are charging for is taxable at all. Rates and rules change, and they are not the same in two places. For what you owe and what to charge, ask an accountant or your tax authority.
The early access list is not a contract
Joining the early access list puts your name in front of us and does nothing else. It does not hold a spot, it does not guarantee you will be invited, it does not lock in a price, and it does not commit us to a launch date. We may invite people in whatever order makes sense, and we may take longer than anyone would like. Either side can walk away at any point, with no notice and nothing owed.
The prices on this site are planned prices
The pricing page shows what we intend to charge when the product opens. They are real intentions, written down so you can decide whether this is worth your time. They are not an offer and not a quote. Anything on that page can change before launch, including the amounts, what each plan includes and how the plans are split up. Nothing on the site gives you a right to a particular price. When you can actually subscribe, the price you are shown then is the price.
Who owns what
The text, the design, the code, the logos and the mockups on this site belong to us. Do not copy the site or pass its pages off as your own work. What you make with a tool is a different matter. A quote or an invoice you build here is yours, in full, with no credit and no permission needed. We never see it anyway, because it never leaves your browser. Use it, print it, send it to your client.
The parts we do not run
If you allow analytics, the site loads Google Analytics, which Google runs under its own terms rather than ours. Pages may also link out to other sites. We do not run those either, and a link is not a recommendation of whatever sits on the other end of it. If one of them is broken or gone, that is not something we can fix from here.
Company details and governing law
This page does not name a governing law, a court, or a company registration, because we are not going to write down something that is not settled yet. It will be settled before the product opens, and at that point the company details and the law these terms run under get published right here. Until then, read this page as covering the website and the free tools only, and nothing beyond them.
When these terms change
The date at the top is the day this page last changed. We will change it as the site changes, and there is a larger rewrite coming before the product opens, because terms for software you pay for and trust with your work have to say a great deal more than these do. If you keep using the site after a change, the version on the page is the one that applies.
