An invoice that gets paid quickly is boring and clear. It has a number, a date, the work in plain words, the amount, and one obvious way to pay. Most late payments in the trades are not people refusing to pay, they are invoices that never went out or went out without half of that.
This page gives you the clear version in about two minutes. Fill in your business and your customer, list the work with quantities and prices, set your tax rate, say when it is due and how to pay. Print it and you have a document you can hand over at the door or attach to an email.
What it will not do is tell you next Tuesday that this one is still unpaid. Nobody remembers which of eleven invoices came back, and that is the part that quietly costs the most. Foldrule tracks the ones that are open, and sends the reminder for you.
Questions about the invoice generator
What it does, and where it stops.
Is this a legal invoice?
It carries what an invoice needs: who is billing, who is being billed, a number, a date, the work, the amounts and the tax. Check what your state or province expects before you rely on it.
Can I take a card payment from it?
Not from this page. It prints a document. Getting paid by card from the invoice itself, with the money going to your own account, is part of the product.
How do I number my invoices?
Any way you like, as long as it goes up and never repeats. Start at 1001 if you want them to look established. In the product the number is assigned for you.
Can I subtract a deposit?
Yes. Put in the percentage the customer already paid and the balance due at the bottom accounts for it.
Does it remember my business details?
No. Nothing is stored, so you retype them each time. That is the honest cost of a tool that keeps none of your data.
What about the ones that go unpaid?
This page cannot help you there. Knowing what is open, what is overdue and who to chase on Monday is exactly what Foldrule is for.
